The state of Mississippi, the 20th state admitted into the Union, is a state known for its many contributions to the beauty and economy of the United States. Petroleum and coal products manufacturing is an industry in which crude petroleum and coal are transformed into usable products. Petroleum refining involves the separation of crude petroleum into component products through the use of cracking and distillation techniques. The establishments involved in this industry will then take the refined petroleum and coal products and turn them into products like asphalt coatings and petroleum lubricating oils.

The second top industry in Mississippi is the transportation equipment manufacturing industry. This industry specializes in the production of equipment for use in the transportation of humans or goods. This might include bending or welding metal or plastic materials into mechanical parts and components. These parts will then be used in many different types of transportation, including water, air, rail, and road. This industry is one of the most vital to the economy of all countries in North America, including Canada and Mexico.
