Chicago is home to many top universities, DePaul, Loyola, North Park and UIC just to name a few. For the most part, your first year at many of these universities it will be required that one lives in campus housing. Fortunately for students and parents the choice of Chicago Apartments and locations are as diverse as the course of studies that these Universities offer. You will have a few options to consider; for example, location, size and pricing of an off campus Chicago Apartment.

The main thing you should ask yourself as a student and a parent is how far do I want to live from my school? Do I want to be within walking distance or would a short commute be fine? The only dilemma you will face is that universities like DePaul and Loyola have two different campus locations. DePaul has a campus located in Lincoln Park and Loop areas. Loyola has a Roger’s park campus and Gold Coast location. Students should choose a location near the campus where most of your classes will be held. Keep in mind that most universities are located off public transportation, trains and buses.

For the most part trains and buses will be near every Chicago Apartment. The next thing to consider would be the size of an apartment. As a student coming from campus housing you’re probably going to be use to small spaces. Chicago Apartments offer a few alternatives. For your first apartment you can consider a studio apartment. Studio apartments are great because they are affordable and for the most part will include some utilities. Studios will offer several different floor plans and some studios even have separate kitchens with huge walk in closets. The main thing is that they are affordable and you will usually have several students living in the same building. Think of a studio as a dorm building, but you will have your own private space.

Let’s talk about pricing, another major factor in determining off campus living for students. As mentioned earlier studio apartments are very affordable, but if you need a bigger space, rooming with a fellow student is always an option that can save you some money. If you have a classmate that you get along with, or a close group of friends, you can split the expenses. Whether it’s a two bedroom or a four bedroom, splitting expenses would be a great option. Around many universities, several landlords have modified their Chicago Apartment floor plans and offer four to six bedroom apartments. Again, you will split expenses and will be able to have a bigger apartment.

All types of Chicago Apartments will be available near major universities. Chicago Apartments are located near several public transportation options and bike routes. From a studio apartment all the way to a six bedroom apartment you will have some good options. Parents and students simply need to discuss the location, size and price and that will fit their needs.
